Conversion Formulas

Celsius to Fahrenheit: F = C x 9/5 + 32. Fahrenheit to Celsius: C = (F - 32) x 5/9. Celsius to Kelvin: K = C + 273.15. All three formulas are applied simultaneously whenever you type in any field.

Reference Temperatures

The reference table below the input fields shows common temperatures (freezing point, body temperature, boiling point, and others) in all three scales for quick reference.

Frequently Asked Questions

Multiply by 9/5 and add 32. Formula: F = C × 9/5 + 32. For example, 100°C = 100 × 1.8 + 32 = 212°F.

Subtract 32, then multiply by 5/9. Formula: C = (F - 32) × 5/9. For example, 72°F = (72-32) × 5/9 = 22.2°C.

Kelvin is the SI base unit of temperature. It starts at absolute zero (the coldest possible temperature) with no negative values. Kelvin = Celsius + 273.15. For example, 0°C = 273.15 K, and 100°C = 373.15 K.

Absolute zero is the lowest possible temperature, 0 Kelvin, -273.15°C, or -459.67°F. At this temperature, molecular motion effectively stops. It is a theoretical limit that cannot be reached in practice.

Normal human body temperature is approximately 37°C (98.6°F or 310.15 K). This varies slightly by individual, time of day, and measurement location, and the range considered normal is typically 36.1-37.2°C (97-99°F).
